HENDERSON, Nev., Jan. 7, 2024 NBA G League Ignite (0-6) fell to the Austin Spurs (4-0), 114-80, on Sunday at The Dollar Loan Center in Henderson, Nev.

Ignite was led by John Jenkins, who posted 15 points and two assists on 4-of-8 shooting from the three-point line. Ron Holland followed with 14 points, eight rebounds, three steals, and two assists, while Tyler Smith added 10 points and five rebounds. Matas Buzelis had a final stat line of six points, 11 rebounds and three blocks.

RaiQuan Gray paced the Spurs with 22 points, four rebounds and three assists on 10-of-12 shooting from the field. Erik Stevenson provided 19 points, six rebounds and four assists, while Javante McCoy recorded 16 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals.

The Spurs used a blistering hot shooting start to take an early 18-point lead in the first quarter, led by RaiQuan Gray, who poured in 15 of his 22 points in the frame on 7-of-8 shooting from the field. As a team, the Spurs shot 68.4 percent from the field, including 60 percent from the three-point line in the quarter en route to taking a 32-16 advantage heading into the second period. Ignite’s struggles continued throughout the first half after being held to 39 first-half points, tied for its lowest point total in that span, as the Spurs extended its lead by 26 points in the second quarter. Despite trailing by 23 points at the halfway mark, Ron Holland accounted for 14 of Ignite’s 39 points on 5-of-11 shots from the field. In the second half, the Spurs continued to apply pressure after taking a 36-point lead and coasting to the victory. Ignite was held to season-lows in first-quarter points (16), total points (80) and field goal percentage (32.5).
