EDINBURG, Texas., Jan. 20, 2023 NBA G League Ignite (5-7) fell to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (4-7), 110-107, on Friday at the Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg, Texas.

John Jenkins led Ignite for the fourth straight game with 27 points on 10-of-19 shooting from the field, including 7-of-14 from the three-point line. Cameron Young finished with 20 points, while Eric Mika tallied his eighth double-double of the season with 15 points and 14 rebounds.

Trevor Hudgins led the Vipers, who scored a game-high 29 points with five rebounds and three assists. Darius Days notched a double-double as he tallied 23 points and 10 rebounds, while Jalen Lecque added 18 points, five rebounds and three assists.

Trailing 9-2 in the opening minutes, John Jenkins gave Ignite a spark by draining four consecutive three-pointers en route to a 14-point quarter on 5-of-6 shots from the field, including 4-of-4 from behind the arc. Cameron Young added 10 points to help give Ignite a one-point lead heading into the second quarter. Ignite extended its lead in the second frame after shooting 55.6 percent from the field and 50 percent from the three-point line to take a 10-point advantage at the halfway mark.

After taking a 15-point deficit early in the third quarter, the Vipers climbed back into the game by outscoring Ignite 28-17 the rest of the quarter to cut the lead to four. Trevor Hudgins, of the Vipers, led the comeback by pouring 11 of his 29 points in the frame. Trailing 107-102 with a little under two minutes remaining in regulation, the Vipers scored eight consecutive points, including two late free throws to seal the victory.
