Ignite Falls At Wisconsin

OSHKOSH, Wis., Feb. 12, 2022 MarJon Beauchamp logged his third 20-point outing in four games, but NBA G League Ignite fell to the Wisconsin Herd, 103-93, Saturday evening at Oshkosh Arena in Oshkosh, Wis.

Beauchamp scored 21 points on 10-17 shooting and added six rebounds, two assists and two blocks to lead Ignite.

Michael Foster Jr., who returned to play in his home state for the first time since his sophomore year of high school, elicited cheers from the Wisconsin crowd with his 14 points, 14 rebounds, four assists and three blocks.  Scoot Henderson scored 17 points off the bench Jaden Hardy logged 10 points despite getting in early foul trouble, but Ignite was held under 100 points for the third time in four games.

Hardy, who scored a quick six points in the opening four minutes of play, was hampered by two early fouls but Ignite shot a blistering 59.1 percent (13-22) in the first quarter to lead 33-27.

The Herd locked down on defense in the next quarter, holding Ignite to only nine field goals (9-25) while shooting 13-25 (52 percent) to outscore Ignite 36-18 and wrestle the lead away at halftime, 63-51. At halftime, four Herd players reached double figures, while Henderson was the lone Ignite player in double figures with 12 points.

Ignite brought the score back within four points, 77-73, late in the third quarter, but Wisconsin outscored Ignite 9-5 in the final two minutes of the quarter to maintain their lead. Entering the final stretch, the Herd led 86-78.

Both teams shot under 30 percent in a gritty fourth-quarter effort, allowing the Herd to pull away with the victory.

Ignite heads to Detroit next to take on the Motor City Cruise on Tuesday, Feb. 15. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. PT/7 p.m. ET at Wayne State Fieldhouse and on ESPN+.
