Hardy Lifts Resilient Ignite Squad To Victory

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 9, 2022  Down 105-103 in the waning seconds of NBA G League Ignite’s home finale against the Mexico City Capitanes, Jaden Hardy sent a trey through the hoop with 11.5 seconds on the clock to lift Ignite to victory, 106-105, Sunday afternoon at Michelob ULTRA Arena. With the win, Ignite split the series with the Capitanes, 1-1.

Hardy’s triple gave him a career-high 30 points. He went 11-23 from the field. Michael Foster Jr. logged his team-best sixth double-double of the season on 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Dyson Daniels was just one dish shy of his own double-double, scoring 14 points with nine assists, five rebounds, two steals and two blocks.

Justin Reyes and Mike Torres Cuevas led the Capitanes with 25 points apiece.

Ignite outshot Mexico City 51.3 percent (20-39) to 47.8 percent (22-46), but the Capitanes capitalized on eight 3-pointers and seven steals to lead 60-49 at halftime.

Ignite trailed for most of the second half, but opened the first three minutes of the final quarter with a 9-2 run to equalize, 85-85 with 9:25 remaining, with Scoot Henderson chipping in four of the team's nine in that span.

The fourth quarter featured three lead changes, but Ignite displayed its resilience down the stretch to secure victory.
